Ethical Non-Monogamy (ENM)
At Abundance Counseling Services, we recognize that love, commitment, and connection can take many forms. Ethical Non-Monogamy (ENM)
is an umbrella term that includes open relationships, polyamory,
relationship anarchy, and other consensual structures where
honesty, autonomy, and communication are foundational.
As affirming ENM providers, we create a space that is
non-judgmental and inclusive—honoring each client’s relationship
orientation while helping them navigate the complexities that can
arise around attachment, boundaries, jealousy,
identity, and communication.

Our goal is to support individuals and partners in cultivating secure,
transparent, and values-aligned connections—whether they are newly exploring ENM or experienced in these dynamics. We approach this work with cultural humility, awareness of internalized mononormativity, and respect for the diversity of relational expressions.

Therapists at ACS integrate multiple evidence-based and experiential modalities to meet the unique needs of ENM clients, including:
-
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT): to strengthen emotional bonds and foster secure attachment between partners.
-
Gottman Method: to enhance communication, rebuild trust, and develop shared meaning within multi-partner systems.
-
Discernment Counseling: for partners questioning the structure or future of their relationship.
-
Somatic Experiencing (SE): to help clients regulate the body’s stress response and process emotions arising from relational transitions or boundary ruptures.
-
EMDR and Brainspotting: to resolve past relational trauma or attachment injuries that may impact current dynamics.
-
Cognitive-Behavioral and Mindfulness-Based Interventions: to increase self-awareness, reduce anxiety, and improve conflict resolution skills.

Through these approaches, we help clients and partners deepen connection, clarify agreements, and create relationships that feel both authentic and sustainable.
