How to Cope in the Midst of Challenges Part III

In the two previous blogs we reviewed some definitions and reasons why we cannot always cope in a positive way. Additionally, I have provided you with a way to challenge your negative thoughts to help turn around negative thinking and given you three exercises on how to cope.

For this last installation of this series we are going to explore various actions that you could try, some morning habits to try to incorporate into your life and what other therapists recommend to their clients.

ENGAGE your body and senses! Actions that you could do:

Take deep breaths​

Take a quick walk Walk away from the trigger Stand up and stretch Listen to music Take a time out Imagine your happy place Exercise Use a stress ball Read

Count to 100

Read inspirational quotes

Notice 5 things

Drink tea

Write down your thoughts

Spend time with your family and / or pets

7 Morning Habits that help start your day in a positive way!

No Snooze! Stretch – helps with muscle and joint flexibility,

stress relief and improved circulation Water – Drink a full glass Breakfast – kick start your metabolism Music – Upbeat or Calming for charging No Phone – Do Not Disturb Read – Soak your mind in words

Remember - we all deserve time for self care. When we fill our cup we can fill others. You will also be healthier and more likely to be present for all of those people whom you love.
